Nina Raper is an emerging artist based in Boorloo (Perth). She is currently studying a Bachelor of Arts degree at Curtin University. Majoring in Fine Art with a Minor in Photography, Raper's practice is multifaceted. With work in sculpture, video, projection, textiles, print and installation her practice contemplates gender norms and patriarchal discourse perpetuated in digital culture. Her kitsch, playful and sometimes humorous approach to art making allows her to tackle complicated subject matter.
Some of her current projects include the digital durational performance piece, Coco Roach (2021). that addresses the relationship between the commodification of femininity and the discourse of Instagram culture. Raper’s most recent autobiographical series Stranger is Typing... (2021) that dissects and responds her own experiences with misogyny and unwanted sexual attention through the lens of her experiences on chat roulette site Omegle.
