Stranger is Typing...

Stranger is Typing… contemplates the misogynistic behavior in digital culture. The body of work was influenced by my experiences on the chat site Omegle from when I was an early teen. The work negotiates the psychological repercussions of the male gaze and non-consensual sexual attention online, while also addressing the nuances of Tumblr-era feminism of the early 2010s. The series of performance pieces combined with embroidered text-based works come together to form a non-linear narrative responding to my personal experience. Each composition exists in the space between reality and male fantasy to represent a suffocatingly satirical approach to the colonial ideal of femininity.
